Reading Pals
Join us for Reading Pals at Cuyuna Range Elementary School, a program designed to spark a love of reading while building meaningful connections between students and caring community members. Our program prioritizes relationship building by creating a fun, welcoming environment where kindergarten students can explore books freely and grow more confident in their reading skills.
During each session, volunteers spend time reading alongside students, listening as they sound out words, turn pages, and discover new stories. With encouragement and support, kids can build confidence while developing positive experiences with reading that help strengthen early literacy skills.
The best part? There’s no long-term commitment required. Each session is relaxed, engaging, and takes less than an hour to complete. All kindergarten students have the opportunity to participate each week, giving volunteers a simple and meaningful way to help young readers develop a lifelong love of books.
Take a Kid Fishing
Join us for Take a Kid Fishing, a hands-on experience designed to introduce kids to the joy of fishing while building meaningful connections with mentors and peers. Hosted by The Community Effect, this program focuses on relationship building by creating a fun, welcoming environment where students can learn from experienced anglers, ask questions, and develop new skills on the water.
Throughout the day, participants will get the chance to learn the basics of fishing, from casting and baiting a hook to understanding patience, teamwork, and respect for nature. With guidance and encouragement from volunteers, kids can build confidence while experiencing the excitement of catching their own fish.
More than just a day at the lake, Take a Kid Fishing is about creating memories, strengthening community connections, and giving young people an opportunity to unplug, explore the outdoors, and discover a hobby that can last a lifetime.
Weekly Art Program
Join us for our Weekly Art Program at Heartwood Senior Living, a creative space where art becomes a bridge for connection, conversation, and community. This program focuses on relationship building by bringing residents and volunteers together through engaging visual arts activities in a relaxed and welcoming environment.
Each session offers opportunities to explore different art projects, practice new techniques, and express creativity alongside others.
With guidance and encouragement, participants can build confidence in their artistic abilities while enjoying meaningful moments of creativity and connection.
More than just making art, this program is about sharing stories, creating friendships, and celebrating creativity at every skill level.
Through simple projects and shared experiences, participants can enjoy the process of creating something special together.
