Just Have FUN!
The school based one-on-one reading program aims to provide elementary age students with the opportunity to engage in fun reading activities with TCE volunteers during school hours. The program recognizes that reading out loud is a highly effective way to strengthen reading skills.
Volunteers will be paired with individual students and will spend dedicated time engaging in reading activities together. The program is designed to be fun and enjoyable for both the volunteers and the students, creating a positive and nurturing environment that fosters a love of reading. By offering one-on-one support and creating a positive reading experience, the program aims to improve reading skills, boost confidence, and instill a lifelong love for reading in the participating students.
Youth Activities
TCE will recruit and conduct thorough background checks for all youth volunteers. TCE will organize, facilitate, and manage all aspects of activities coordinating with each schools’ preferences and policies.
Volunteers are at the backbone of our activities. We couldn't do it without them. TCE activities are designed to use each volunteer’s time impactful and enjoyably.
Volunteers don't have to be a literacy teacher, possess reading or educational skills. Just use your time to enjoy and build a genuine relationship with a young elementary student, reading stories and doing fun reading activities.

All adults interested in volunteering with youth must undergo a thorough vetting process.
1. Fill out the Youth Volunteer application. 2. Pass a full criminal background check. 3. Interview and be approved by TCE staff.
TCE staff will have the sole power discretion in selecting adults to be approved for Youth volunteering. Passing a background check does not guarantee approval. TCE staff will consider references and public information to make their decision.
All adults who genuinely want to make a positive impact are welcome and encouraged to apply to be a youth volunteer. TCE upholds a strict non-discrimination policy, and no applicants will be denied unfairly.
Wide spread low level reading is preventing a significant number of community members from reaching their full potential.
Low level reading does not discriminate. It plagues all communities regardless of social and economics status.
For those low level reading often cultivates perpetual -generational :trauma, poverty, and inequality. Such a large portion of our community is placed in these cycles. Limited the chances to gain the skills necessary to access resources required to thrive.
TCE aims to alleviate these barriers through our FUN and effective activities.
